Developer Note: The GTA Online Police DLC is in progress, but the GTA Online Spy Satellite DLC has been more thoroughly complete as of  01052024, 1621. The logic for the GTA Online Police DLC has not been written nor have components for it been created. The conceptual model found in this blog post is a very light software design mockup.

In developing the Social Engineering Component of the GTA Online Spy Satellite DLC, mechanisms that could lead the way for a full blown GTA Online Police DLC have been identified.

I think a GTA Online Police DLC is overdue since the game is called Grand Theft Auto, and part of the game is evading cops while stealing high-end or luxury cars. However, if a GTA Online Police DLC were to be immediately uploaded into GTA Online with no lead up to the DLC, the Police DLC might not do as expected, and the entire process might feel rushed. If the process of delivering a DLC is rushed to the GTA Online players, the GTA Online Police DLC runs the risk of not performing as expected. This is not an ideal situation.

A way to pave a path for a potential GTA Online Police DLC is to begin the process of enabling various police related activities in GTA Online. Some police related activities are included in the Social Engineering Component of the GTA Online Spy Satellite DLC.

Some police activities that could be currently enabled in GTA Online without the formal introduction of a full blown GTA Online Police DLC are the following:

  • Swatting
    • The players will be able to use the LSPD to perform swatting in GTA Online.
    • The home properties of the players will be swatted.
      • A home property is any inside building the player spawns into, or can be used to plan heists.
  • Snitching
    • The players will be able to use police or FIB informants.
  • Arrests
    • The players will be subject to arrests.
    • The players will be able to arrest other players.
      • The players could go to the Davis Courts Building to handle some their legal problems
      • The players could go to Los Santos City Hall to handle some of their legal problems.
      • The players could hire a new contact - 'Crooked Ambulance Chaser Lawyer' - to handle their legal problems.
        • The lawyer would work for the 'Crooked Law Firm'.
        • The fees would be added to the standard in-game fees charged to the players in GTA Online.
      • With players being able to arrest other players, a GTA Online Prison Life DLC could possibly be made.
        • The players would end up in prison, making money from prison, or trying to escape from prison.
          • Gameplay mechanics would have to be created for this type of DLC.
    • Criminal Record - for all major crimes committed by the player, a criminal record will be created. Eventually, a wanted poster will be made public. Other players would be able to pursue the suspect player that is on the wanted poster.
  • Execute Search Warrants
    • The players will execute warrants to arrests NPCs in the free roam lobby.
  • Undercover Cops
    • By default, the players will be able to use permanent off-radar abilities with limited weapons selection capabilities.
    • By default, the players will be equipped with Super Heavy Bullet-Proof Armor.
    • Undercover cops will be found inside of liquor stores in Los Santos and San Andreas.
      • NPCs are sometimes found in liquor stores in Los Santos and San Andreas.
      • Undercover cops could also be found in the liquor stores similar to how NPCs are found in the liquor stores.
  • "Jump Out Crew"
    • Undercover cops will have the ability to go on ride-alongs in unmarked cars, and "jump out" of the unmarked vehicle to arrest or pursue a suspect.
  • Dirty Cop
      • The player will be considered a 'dirty cop.' The player will pay a fee to other cops so that the other businesses of the player do not get raided as much.
        • The other businesses are:
          • MC businesses
          • Cargo Warehouses
          • Nightclub businesses
          • Bunker businesses (Agent 14 should be furious that his bunker business is being raided by the local PD.)
      • The Import/Export business and the Salvage Yard could be made available for police raids. These two business entities currently do not experience raids like the other businesses do.
  • Undercover Police Vehicles
    • Undercover or unmarked police vehicles will have special capabilities not found in other vehicles.
  • Police Mobile Command Center
    • This vehicle would be similar to the Mobile Operations Center. Only police missions and other police related tasks would be enabled from the Police Command Center.
  • Police Car Storage -  police stations throughout San Andreas and Los Santos including Los Santos International Airport can be used for police vehicle storage.
    • A Police Mobile Command Center is required in order to buy and use police car storage at an LSPD or San Andreas police station.
      • If the player is not wearing undercover police attire or is not wearing a police uniform, the player will have limited access to police stations and will be treated as an intruder by the LSPD.
    • Exotic police cars cannot be used by the player, if the player has not unlocked a Police Station.
      • If the player is not wearing an undercover uniform or dressed in police uniform attire, the player cannot access the police vehicle storage inside of the police stations.
  • Remote Vehicle Access - The LSPD would have the ability to remotely turn off vehicles. The mechanism to turn off vehicles would not be an EMP device.
The above GTA Online Police DLC features are not to enable the usage of SWAT gear, tactics, training, or weapons by the player. A GTA Online Police DLC Part 2 could be a SWAT related DLC. However, in a standard GTA Online Police DLC, the players should be given the ability to be undercover cops.

With being an undercover cop, the players will have permanent off-radar ability with limited weapon usage. This is so that the logic between being an undercover cop and the weapon's ability assumed of an undercover cop, make sense. Undercover cops would have limited weapons' capabilities in real life, but they would have excellent handling of the weapon.

The GTA Online players could be made to undergo special weapons training to unlock the abilities of being an undercover cop for the LSPD, or the police in San Andreas.
